Ukraine’s Worst Winter
Ukraine’s Worst Winter explores the humanitarian consequences of Russia’s deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure, where access to heat, water and electricity becomes a matter of survival.
Production took us across Ukraine’s major frontline cities in a whirlwind week of travel, from Kherson and Nikopol to Sloviansk, Kharkiv and Kyiv, documenting how people endured the winter and adapted to repeated attacks on the systems that sustain daily life.

Nearly all of Kherson has been declared a Red Zone. Russian forces target civilians, and survival can depend on taking cover in time or sheer luck.
To tell that story, we embedded in Kherson and kept returning to the city from November 2025 through February 2026, living alongside the people and humanitarian teams who remained there. That time gave us access not just to moments of crisis, but to the rhythms of daily life, the relationships and the choices that define what it means to stay.
The film follows families who refuse to leave, communities forced from their homes, and humanitarian workers from Greater Good Charities, Light of Kherson and Insulate Ukraine who continue to show up despite the danger.
A film built from months inside the story, not days observing it from outside.
